Root Surgery

Many times we find over 10 years or more of excess soil and mulch puts a tree in decline. This can be added or accumulated mulch and often added soil for planting planting of shrubs and flowers. Recommend any tree not to have anything next to the trunk and allow to show their root flares or main roots to be exposed. The sloping of roots close to the base of the tree to the ground which allows open space between roots and gives the tree plenty of proper function to uptake enough water for the tree long-term. When this is slowed down (by excess soil, plants, and mulch) the tree thins and declines causing sometimes irreversible growth in some areas of the trees. First step, do not place plant material and excess mulch or pavers around the tree. And if you do, then may need a root collar excavation aka root surgery to correct it like these trees we saved.

White Fly Insect Infestation

Knowing your plant is also knowing the problems that come with it. Treating at correct times and getting ahead for the next time to protect the leaves. Ficus trees are temperamental and often tricky to treat. Applying the right products and strength, and the right time equals more healthy trees to enjoy and less worry they are taken care of.

Post Construction Stress

A new home was built but the builder did not protect the tree. Tear down and new builds are common now. This one was in Winter Park, FL where the live oak was less than 20 feet away from the home and less than 10 feet away from the sidewalk. And the only large tree on the property. In the beginning, it was the reason why the owner chose the property. In the end, they almost lost the tree. We take careful consideration for older trees. What type of tree and percentage still alive is important to know if its going to make it with our selection of correct tree health care treatments. Fertilizer trunk injections are not the way to go here which is commonly suggested. We focus on roots and supporting them during this crucial recovery time. This live oak was a marginal case since we don’t take typically less than 50% of green growth not present in the tree. The client and us were super happy to give the tree a fighting chance and it came back beautifully in 10 months.

Classic Palm Nutrition Program

When you look good, you look good. When you don’t have the right nutrients for the right palm, you don’t look good. Palm fronds when get older turn from green to brown/grey. They don’t turn yellow then brown. That’s nutrition. Once you see how they can look with not only all green but a fuller head, you want to provide the best nutrition possible. We use a UF formulated slow release fertilizer good for the palms and the environment that can turn your palm around in 1-2 years. Well worth the wait for flushing out the older malnourished damage leaves to the talk of the town. Our palm programs are deluxe and include several insecticides based on time of year, and a fungicide, on top of palm food. Keeping your palm(s) healthy and protecting it from insects and disease too!

Tree Growth Regulator

Trees in small spaces over time can decline with a limited root system. The top center of the tree declines when water cannot reach the farthest area away from the ground. Want to save trees and keep them longer even when you have smaller limited landscapes? Consider a Tree Growth Regulator (TGR). Other benefits of slowing down a tree can include increase of drought tolerance, higher defenses and better healing of wounds, more flowers, a greener tree, and less pruning! For HOA communities TGR’s can help keep a tree living longer without removing and replacing them in areas near a sidewalk/curb or street with reducing monthly repairs. As we become more urban, we have to manage trees differently in smaller urban spaces where one tree truly matters.
